BIENNIAL FINE ARTS CONTEST "GHEORGHE PETRAŞCU"

15th edition, 2020

 

This year, the 15th edition of the "Gheorghe Petraşcu" Fine Art Competition Biennial is being organized.

The event is organized in memory of the painter Gheorghe Petrașcu, who established his workshop in Târgoviște between 1923 and 1943, attracted by the beauty and history of the city.

The Târgoviște period, together with the picturesque and patriarchal atmosphere of the city, contributed to the development of the artist Gheorghe Petrașcu, who reached the highest degree of execution, plasticity and expression, representing at the same time the most fertile period in terms of creation. All this led to the recognition of artistic merits by the Romanian Academy, which, on June 1, 1936, elected him a member, Gheorghe Petrașcu being the first Romanian academic painter.

The contest organized by Dâmbovița County Council, through the National Museum Complex "Curtea Domnească" Târgoviște, is open to members of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, students (last year, master's degree) and graduates of Art Academies.

The works can be sent by mail, until 26.10.2020, the theme of the contest is free, and participation is free.

The exhibition will be open to the public until 31.01.2021.
