Nucet Monastery

Nucet Monastery was most probably built around 1500 by Gherghina Pârcălab, together with his wife, Neaga. Then it is said that the monastery was rebuilt "from the ground up". This emerges from a document issued in 1501 in the chancellery of Radu cel Mare, Gherghina Pârcălab being the uncle of the ruler Radu cel Mare.

The name and the special beauty of the place are given by the multitude of walnuts nearby. The same name, Nucet, was once worn by the Cozia Monastery, but only for a while.

You can find more details from the tourist guide of the objective, Drăghici Maria, which you can find from Wednesday to Sunday, between 8:00-12:00.

You can make appointments for a guided tour at the National Center for Tourist Information and Promotion Târgoviște, at the phone number 0245/633341.

The monastery is located in Nucet, about 16 km south of Targoviste.
