Stelea Monastery

Stelea Monastery is the foundation of the Moldavian ruler Vasile Lupu, built in 1645 as a sign of reconciliation with Matei Basarab from Muntenia. In those times, the Stelea monastery became the first monastery complex located in the middle of a city. Although it suffered from the battles in Târgoviște, but also from the fires, the place managed to resist, here being established the first high school of Greek language with teaching in Latin, until around 1840.
